I really enjoyed Jessica’s Ghost. It had a very interesting plot line, with a gigantic twist about 2/3s of the way through. It kept me fascinated and engaged all the way through. With its moving story, and intricate characters, it’s almost impossible to put down! I would love to ask the author where the idea came to them, and how it came to life. This book definitely deserves a 9/10
Jessica’s ghost is a book about a boy called Francis. Francis meets Jessica as he is sitting down eating his lunch one day. He then discovers that Jessica is a ghost and he is the only person that can see her. He takes her home where he is unsure whether he should take her up to his special room where he designs fashion. His mom comes up to his room, unable to see Jessica and tells Francis that the next day someone called Andi is coming to meet him.
The next day Andi comes over. She is actually a girl much to Jessica and Francis’ surprise. Then they make an exciting discovery. Andi can see Jessica! Francis wonders whether or not there is a link in why only Andi and he can see her.
They meet someone else who can see them who might be the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle to what the link in between them is…
This is a truly, well, different book to many others. As you may’ve noticed, the title is Jessica’s Ghost, so this is a story about a boy who is a loner at school but suddenly he can see a new girl who he’s never seen before called Jessica. They become friends and soon the story starts properly.
For the millionth time I highly recommend this book and yeah, that’s it. It was an enjoyable book to read.

I thought this book was quite an easy read but also a really moving book. I think that the author really captivated the reader with all the unanswered questions. The suicide theme really came as a shock to me and made me cling onto the pages even more. 9/10

This is an amazing book by the brilliant Andrew Noriss. Jessica’s ghost is about a boy called Francis. He is a bit of an outsider at school, and he has no real friends. One winter, Francis sits down on the end of a bench, when a girl sits down at the other end. Francis offers some of his drink, and the girl, Jessica, immediately reveals that she is a ghost, and runs her hand through the bench to prove it. Francis takes her home, and Jessica wonders how he can see her. She finds that Francis is very into fashion, and, as she is as well, she tries on the outfits he is making. But how can Francis seem normal to anyone if he appears to be talking to himself? and can anyone else see ghosts, like Francis?
I am REALLY not surprised that this amazing book was shortlisted for this prestigious award. It is a very powerful, beautifully written book. Definitely one I would recommend, and definitely another 10/10 book (just like any other!)
I really loved Jessica’s Ghost. It’s intricate and clear storyline really grips the reader and latches on to their brain like sellotape! I especially loved the part when Francis invited Jessica into his house. You can really see that Francis has talent at fashion and having a bunch of dolls isn’t quite creepy.
The story is absolutely prodigious and deserves more than the Costa Book Award. This story is highly eligible for a Carnegie medal and much more! I cannot strain how good this book is and I would definitely recommend it to high level readers and definitely one I would rate 10/10!
This is a book by Andrew Norris, I rate this book 10/10 mainly because the ghost’s name is my name… however, the book is really interesting and intriguing, therefore, I chose it to be 10/10. I definitely would recommend this book to my friends!
This book is about a lonely young man called Francis, he was sitting on the school bench when a ‘girl’ sits on the other side of the bench, he sees the ‘girl’s’ arm go through the bench, this is when he finds out the girl, Jessica, is a ghost. Jessica and Francis become close friends and they hang out most of the day, they help Roland and Andi to go to school again. The four of them become best friends because they all can see Jessica. One day Jessica helps a girl called Lorna not commit suicide, by calling her Aunt Jo and her best friends to save Lorna, but that day after saving Lorna, Jessica finally makes her way to heaven.
Jessica’s Ghost is a well written book by Andrew Norris. The plot of the story is well set out and the characters have been well based. The fact that only some of the children – that have some kind of problem they’re dealing with – only get to see this ghost. Ghosts are normally not things that you would associate with humans as most of the time they are a myth – which they still are. This Jessica plays a huge role because she stays with the children until they conquer their troubles. The way that Jessica is described makes you feel as if she is a normal person because she gets along with the children so well. It’s quite funny how Andi and Francis , who didn’t even know each other because such close friends because a ghost bought them together.
One of my favourite parts of the story is how it tells us about how Jessica actually dies and she was a victim of bullying and helps these children who feel insecure about themselves. What they all later find out is that they all go to the same school however do not notice each other until they realise their lives are more or less the same.
What I like about the concept of the story is how Jessica stays for the time being to help Andi, Francis Roland and Lorna feel better about themselves without physically doing anything to them. What helps this is how they all become a group of friends who give each other positive words so they don’t feel alone because they really aren’t. The way you think about yourself is not as good as how someone may think about you.
I would give this book a 8.7/10 because the author could’ve improved it by choosing the main character that’s more believable , maybe not a ghost.
This book was a very interesting book. Jessica’s ghost is about a boy called Francis. Inside of school, he is bullied because of his love for making clothes. He was walking through school at lunch when he saw a girl wearing a short skirt in the winter. Francis sat on a bench and the girl sat at the end of the bench. Francis offers the girl his drink. The girl was surprised that Francis could see her. She revels she is a ghost and proves it by putting her arm through the bench. They spoke and Francis invited her home. She saw his clothes he made and she tries them on.
A girl (Andi) was new to the town and Francis was told to help her settle in. However, she could see Jessica too. Francis was told to help a boy called Roland. He could see her too. It was only them that could see her. One night that Jessica visited the hospital. She saw a girl called Launa about to commit suicide. Jessica prevented this and disappeared.
I would rate this book 9/10. The reason for this is it is very interesting and it hooks you to read more. However, the book was kind of confusing for me. At the beginning I thought it was boring however it turned out to be interesting.
In my opinion I think this book is really good because it tells the story of how children can feel when they are being bullied for any reason at school, people doesn’t really understand or know how are they really feeling even though they look different they wont tell anyone about it.
This story is nearly the same is showing us how Jessica is helping the people being bullied, in this story she doesn’t exactly knows how they can see her because she a ghost but this can be explained by knowing her past how she died. This book shows me how Jessica makes them see how important Is life for them and for her even though she is dead she actually feels happy of being with them and helping them in everyday problems. She didn’t want them to suicide for being bullied at school as she did because she was bullied as well. The thing is that Lorna want it to suicide because she was getting bullied at school by two girls saying rude things about her. Lorna couldn’t hear Jessica talking to her I think this was because she was already in the position Jessica was when she suicide.
I think this book reserves a 10 because is showing us how to talk to others when we have any problems this helps more than keeping it to yourself.
This is a book by Andrew Norris, I rate this book 10/10 mainly because the ghost’s name is my name… however, the book is really interesting and intriguing, therefore, I chose it to be 10/10. I definitely would recommend this book to my friends!

This book contained a very ‘inspirational’, interesting and ‘heart-warming’ content inside of it.
This is because the protagonist ‘Francis’ was a boy who liked sowing. People always mocked him for what he was doing. They thought sowing was only for girls. Even Francis’s mother thought he was different to the other boys. But one day, a ghost named, ‘Jessica’ turned his life around tremendously.
What I loved about this book was that how it kept me wanting to read. The suspense kept me wanting to go on, and on, and on! Till, the last page appeared in front of my very eyes.
The genre the book should be put in is a ‘ghost’ because it involves a ghost called ‘Jessica’
but she is a unique ghost who doesn’t ‘kill’ people but, to help, like she did to Francis and his new friends.
The main characters of the story were Jessica,Francis,Andi and Roland because they all helped each other grow. My two favourite characters are Andi and Jessica. In my opinion, Andi is a very boyish character because she has a violent attitude. Jessica on the other hand, has a personality that matches Francis which is what I like. She is like a reflection of Francis but a male character.
This is an inspirational book because the main character Francis kept doing what he liked which was sowing even if people made fun of him. This is a great book and it has a great plot right from the beginning. Francis is a boy with no friends
and is bullied. One day he see’s a girl and offering her a hot drink but is shocked to see that she is a ghost. Then he meets two other people who he quickly makes friends with because they can all
see Jessica. in this turn of events Francis comes from zero to a hero saving someone from making the same mistake as Jessica. I would really recommend this book to people who like books with a twist. 9.5/10.
This is an amazing book and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new style of reading material. It is about a boy called Francis. He is a bit of an outsider at school, and he has no real friends. One cold winter, Frances sits down on the end of a bench, when a girl sits down at the other end. Francis offers some of his drink, and the girl, Jessica, immediately reveals that she is a ghost, and runs her hand through the bench to prove it. Jessica wonders how he can see her. She finds that Francis is very into fashion, and, she tries on the outfits he is making. They then meet a girl called Andi. Much to Frances’ and Jessica’s surprise, she can also see Jessica. Andi is not your usual girl. She is very strong and has the figure of a boy. They then meet another boy who can see Jessica. Who is he? Will he believe Jessica?
All in all, this book is extremely gripping and is suitable for all ages. it is exiting and the characters are very memorable such as Lorna, who attempts to commit suicide.
Francis is the loner of his school; he has a secret interest in fashion, which is considered ‘girly’. One day, a girl called Jessica sits next to him. However, she is a ghost and cannot be seen by anyone else. They eventually become best friends and make new ones, too… With Jessica, Francis can simply be himself.
It was only towards the end that I realised that this book was about a serious and profound issue like suicide. Suddenly, it seemed more realistic and I had a higher respect for this book. The idea of having a friend, (even one that is a ghost) helping you through rough times and making you understand that you have so many reasons to stay is wonderful. People can just be in this dark pit and not see any way out but suicide, and ‘Jessica’s Ghost’ definitely explores that theme well.
I would recommend it to someone who may be battling issues personally, or who likes a book that surprises
I give this book a 9.5/10.

I really enjoyed reading Jessica’s ghost it was really moving. it is all about how important friendship is, and how it would be hard to live without it. It is about a boy who is very different to most boys because he loves sewing. One day he is thinking about committing suicide when this ghost sits beside him. No one has been able to see her apart from this boy. They become friends and make two more friends who they help from making very bad decisions.
It was a very amazing book and I could not put it down. I would give it a 9 out of 10 only because some bits scared me a bit. But apart from that I loved it and recommend reading it. By Mia 7k
This book is truly fabulous. It’s emotional, and full of heart. There are some thrilling moments when your heart is leaping out of your chest, and equally there are depressing moments when you feel like you want to cry (I did). the characters are beautifully designed, and you feel like you can relate to them so well. A close friend to me died around a year ago, but this book has reassured me that she has gone to a place where she can be happy…simply fabulous
I really loved this book. It was about a young boy struggling to find friends because of his “girly” love of fashion and his reaction to meeting Jessica, a girl who just so happens to be a ghost. Over their journey to discover more about Jessica’s troubled past, they discover that Francis is not the only one who can see her and that all of the people who can see her share a very onimous secret.
I found it hard to get into this book at first, but keep reading for a very dramatic twist about 3/4 of the way through.
I loved Jessica’s ghost. I though the book was amazing and I recommend it to people who love ghost stories as it is a very unique as the main character’s are the only one’s who can see her.

Jessica’s Ghost
This is a good book.
It is about a boy who likes sewing clothes and he puts so on his dolls. He gets teased about how is different but one day he sees a ghost called Jessica and the boy is called Francis who is lonely, before Jessica appears. Francis’s life gets way better after meeting Jessica but only he can see her and his Mother thinks he is lonely so a girl who didn’t like her old school comes round. They become friends and one reason was that they become friends is that they can see Jessica. Some while later there is a boy has a problem so Francis comes round to meet him. You could guess what happens next. But what will?……….
I rate this book 10 out of 10.
I thought Jessica’s ghost was a very thought provoking book and actually made me feel really bad for the kids in the book which never really happens when I read a book. I thought it was a good read and it was well written. 8/10
I think it’s a humorous book with a deep meaning. It is quite a nice book to read seeing the characters talk with each other and enjoy themselves. A good read. 8.5/10
I love this book. It was really heart warming and i love the way that Jessica can help children.
In a way it was quite dark but I loved it. I found it quite sad when Jesica went away but it was a great read.

A fabulous book with a Beautiful plot.
The characters were insanely strong especially Jessica she was my fave.
I found it really sweet despite them all having suicidal thoughts.
I think the relationship between And and Roland didn’t have to be there.
It is a shame Andrew can’t make it because i would love to ask him to do a sequel there is so much potential for one.
This has secured my vote!
i loved this book and i think that it had a great plot to it and the characters had such great backrounds and feelings towards life in general
in this book four newfound friends find that they have been having the same feelings towards life and they help together to stop their thoughts and together they stop thinking those things.

By Mia 7k

JESSICA’S GHOST
This book is truly fabulous. It’s emotional, and full of heart. There are some thrilling moments when your heart is leaping out of your chest, and equally there are depressing moments when you feel like you want to cry (I did). the characters are beautifully designed, and you feel like you can relate to them so well. A close friend to me died around a year ago, but this book has reassured me that she has gone to a place where she can be happy…simply fabulous
10/10!!!!!!!!
